How do I get to A Taste of Alaska Lodge?
We recommend that our guests rent a car while staying with us. We unfortunately do not have a shuttle service. Most of the major car rental companies have facilities at Fairbanks International Airport. In the winter, roads are kept clear of snow, and our driveway is plowed. However, if guests don’t have winter driving experience, we recommend renting a car with All-Wheel Drive (AWD).
If renting a car is not a possibility, guests can take a taxi to the Lodge. A taxi from Fairbanks International is approximately $60, and from downtown Fairbanks it is approximately $40. We recommend either Go North Taxi, or Moose Cab.
How far from Fairbanks is the Lodge?
We are about a 20-25 minute drive from the Fairbanks airport, and a 15 minute drive from downtown.
Do all the rooms at A Taste of Alaska Lodge have hairdryers?
All of the rooms include breakfast in the morning, but do you provide any other meals for guests?
We can make dinner for our guests, with advance notice. Please email us for a menu, if you would like to add dinner service to your reservation.
Does the Lodge have cooking facilities for the guests to use?
In the Main Lodge we do not have a kitchen for guest use, but there is a refrigerator and microwave for guests in the dining area. However, both the Log House and the Cottage have full kitchens.
When do you get snow at the Lodge?
Normally, we get our first snow that “sticks” in October. Sled dog tours typically begin in November, depending on snowfall and trail condition.
Do you have cold weather gear for guests to use?
Yes, we have cold weather gear for our guests to rent. Our outfits include snow boots, snow pants, and a parka, for $15 a day. If you are looking to buy winter gear in Fairbanks, we have several outdoor stores. Or, if you are not looking to not spend a lot of money, try Value Village or The Salvation Army when you arrive in Fairbanks. Both thrift stores have a large selection of outdoor gear, for travelers on a budget.
What time is check in/out?
Check in is at 3:00pm. Check out is at 11:00am.
Do you have internet service?
Yes, we have free wifi available. There is also a computer and printer in the main dining room available for guest use.
We are celebrating a special occasion while staying with you. Can we arrange to have flowers, champagne, gift baskets, etc., put in our room before arrival?
Yes, we can arrange all of that. Just give us a call in advance.
Does the Lodge have a handicap accessible room?
Yes, the West Wing Family suite is handicap accessible.
Do you have laundry facilities for guest use?
We don’t have a washer and dryer for guests to use themselves, but we can do laundry for you for $5 a load.
